Google Earth is no longer "free"

James Fee has just posted an amazing revelation about the Google Earth EULA. Namely, GE is not free and you cannot even use it at work for personal reasons:

1. USE OF SOFTWARE The Software is made available to you for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not use the Software or the geographical information made available for display using the Software, or any prints or screen outputs generated with the Software in any commercial or business environment or for any commercial or business purposes for yourself or any third parties.

To use it at work for any reason, you need to pay for the $400 per year Google Pro. As James pointed out, the imminent release of ArcGIS Explorer just got a lot more interesting -- And that even having the Free version of Google Earth installed on your work computer is violation of the license agreement. Also -- see the post on ogle Earth that broke this news about the change in the EULA. Those who have been depending a bit too much on the good will of Google had better scramble in a hurry, I saw one of these presentations given by our state government two weeks ago, funny how they never seem to check these things...
