ArcWeb Explorer is Flex
I have been looking at ArcWeb Explorer and I am pretty certain (97%) that this is Flex stuff - the .jsp page pretty much gives it away in my opinion. I don't think anyone else in the GIS community seems to get this -- they all seem to be talking about Flash. Well, yes, guys, but wake up. I think this is just another example of the MM -- now Adobe -- community - just being ahead of the curve.
I ask this -- is there anything that Microsoft has done that is not just a copy of something someone else did first ? I really don't mean to bash Microsoft, but I saw the Expression demo, which was a straight copy of the Flex demo using Flickr -- but the flex demo only had a handful of lines of code to do what the XAML needed at least hundreds -- when they switched to code view, yikes there was a lot code there !
I applaud ESRI for taking this step forward into the cutting edge and I look forward to hopefully hearing from some of the people involved in this project.
